AQUATICS (LIFEGUARD)

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

This selected position is to maintain a safe environment for all guests and employees by consistently enforcing the park policies and being prepared to react to an aquatic or non-aquatic emergency. This position adheres to policies and procedures, while ensuring guest satisfaction and profitability of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

​​

  • Guest Service: This requires providing friendly and helpful service to guests, as well as fellow employees and promoting a guest-friendly atmosphere. This also requires abiding by all customer service standards and conduct guidelines established in the employee handbook

  • Safety: This requires the promotion of a safe working environment and elimination of safety hazards

  • Cleanliness: This requires keeping the work location and the Park clean and sanitary for Guests, as well as fellow employees. Cleaning duties may require standing, stooping, and bending to pick up trash and debris and the use of cleaning tools and chemicals

  • Enforce attraction requirements including height restrictions, weight restrictions, proper riding position, etc.

  • Operate attractions according to safety guidelines set forth in attraction manuals and training checklists

  • Complete daily capacity and pre-operational safety checklists on all attractions

  • Respond appropriately to distressed guests

  • Use whistle commands to communicate with guests and other members of staff

  • Enforce safety requirements ensuring the safety of all guests and associates

  • Guard areas of responsibility while maintaining proper scanning and other vigilance awareness techniques

  • Attend monthly in-service training sessions as directed by management

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

​​

  • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • No prior lifeguarding experience needed

  • For safety purposes, the individual must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, and understand the English language is preferred.

  • Ability to complete tasks with little supervision and work independently

  • Can handle multiple tasks at one time with efficient use of time

  • Must be able to perform physical activities sufficient to perform the duties of a lifeguard

  • FREE TRAINING! (Training fee is waived) - Potential lifeguard candidates will be required to go through Ellis and Associates training to become a certified lifeguard. Training by E & A instructors will be offered thru White Water Bay at no cost to the candidate providing they finish the entire operating season or leave their employment on good terms.

  • One-time book fee of $35 goes towards the purchase of an electronic license for the required textbook (payable before training begins).

  • Must be able to swim 50-yards unassisted

  • Ability to move/lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to work in diverse weather conditions - including extreme heat, rain, & cold

  • Ability to spend long periods of time standing or moving

  • Must appear professionally in public

OTHER FUNCTIONS:  

​​

  • All other duties assigned or necessary to support the park as a whole.

​
